Question No: 2025/1402

Question (Thomas Turrell AM | Bexley and Bromley): 22nd May 2025

For each school bus in London, please list any cuts or increases to frequency or capacity since 2016.

Answer (Sir Sadiq Khan | Mayor of London) :  28th May 2025

Since May 2016 there have been 111 service changes on 600-series school day-only bus routes that involved a change in the service capacity, through either the addition or withdrawal of journeys. Furthermore, over the past three years there has been an eight percent increase in scheduled kilometres across these routes. Please refer to the attached spreadsheet for more details.

Where a service change description refers to routes with a ā€œVā€ prefix, this denotes services that were operating as part of temporary special arrangements during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Improve Public Transport Connectivity

Bexley and Bromley are often missed off the transport map and can feel like an afterthought for bus services. I support bringing the DLR to Thamesmead, want to see the Superloop services reflect local demand, and improve the reliability of services especially in our rural communities.
